Which Vaccine Should I Get?

We all want the best when it comes to our health. So naturally, many people are wondering which vaccine is the best.  Good news: in all three vaccine trials, there were no deaths among those who got the vaccine. This suggests that all of the vaccines are nearly 100% effective at preventing deaths due to COVID-19.

All three vaccines were very good at preventing hospitalizations too. Here’s what we saw in the vaccine clinical trials:

  • J&J: 2 hospitalization in the vaccinated group vs. 29 in the placebo group. That translates to 93% vaccine efficacy against hospitalizations.
  • Pfizer: 0 hospitalization in the vaccinated group vs. 5 in the placebo group. That translates to 100% vaccine efficacy against hospitalizations.
  • Moderna: 1 hospitalization in the vaccinated group vs. 9 in the placebo group. That translates to 89% vaccine efficacy against hospitalizations.

Public health officials focus on these two types of vaccine efficacy because death and hospitalization are some of the worst things that can happen if you get sick with COVID. Based on these data, here at COVID-101, we unanimously agree that the best vaccine is the one you can get the soonest!
