Don’t wait for your COVID test results, call your contacts now!

You should call your contacts if you have any symptoms of COVID-19. Even if you haven’t gotten a test or if your test results aren’t back.

Why not wait until your test results are back? The sooner you call your contacts, the sooner they can self-isolate. And the sooner they self-isolate, the fewer people they will infect. In fact, you might have to tell people within one day  of getting symptoms to reduce the chances of spreading the virus. And since testing is delayed in many places, sometimes overa week, don’t hesitate to make those calls?

Who exactly should you call? The CDC recommends notifying close contacts, which is any person who has been within 6 feet of an infected person for at least 15 minutes. Even if you were wearing a mask. That likely includes anyone you live with, visited, or eaten with. And maybe your dentist or hair stylist.

The good news is that most people who get COVID tests are negative. But you might not know that until it’s too late! So call your contacts right away, and then let them know when your tests come back.
