Brad Kern is a COVID-19 mitigation specialist with the Virginia Department of Health.

Dr. Kern recently completed his Masters of Public Health in global health and epidemiology at the George Washington University School of Public Health. He also holds a PhD in microbiology from the University of Pennsylvania, where he studied the emerging pediatric pathogen Kingella kingae. His major research interests include outbreak surveillance, molecular epidemiology, and emerging infectious diseases.
